There are places you visit once and enjoy, and then there are places that quietly become part of your family story. For us, Myrtle Beach is firmly in the second category. We’ve been back more than once, and each trip adds another layer to the memories we carry with us.
What makes Myrtle Beach special isn’t just what there is to do. It’s how easy it is to make meaningful moments, whether you’re traveling with a baby, a growing child, or a tighter budget than you planned. These are the five moments that stand out most for our family.
Our First Family Vacation and First Beach Photo

Our number one moment will always be our very first vacation with our oldest daughter, when she was still a baby. Myrtle Beach was where we learned something important as new parents. You don’t need much to have a good time at the beach.
We didn’t have a big budget. We didn’t have fancy gear. What we had was a baby, the ocean, and time together. That trip gave us our first family picture at the beach, and it still means everything to me. It showed us that joy doesn’t come from how much you spend. It comes from being present and letting the moment be enough.
That realization shaped how we travel to this day.
Sandcastle Battles That Always Turn Into Teamwork

One of my favorite Myrtle Beach traditions is watching my husband and daughter build sandcastles together. It always starts the same way. They’re determined to outdo each other with bigger towers & deeper moats than the other.
And then the tide starts creeping in.
That’s when competition turns into collaboration. Suddenly they’re working together, reinforcing walls and redirecting water, trying to save their creation from the ocean. It’s funny, a little chaotic, and completely perfect.
These moments say so much about family life. You start off competing, but you end up working together. The beach has a way of teaching that lesson without trying.

Eating Our Way Through Myrtle Beach

Food is always a highlight for us, and Myrtle Beach never disappoints. Trying different places to eat has become part of the fun. The pizza is always a win, especially after a long beach day, and we never leave without visiting at least one Calabash-style seafood spot.
If there’s crab legs involved, my daughter is all in. She takes full advantage and absolutely gets her money’s worth every time. Watching her enjoy seafood like it’s a personal mission is always entertaining. Myrtle Beach has so many dining options that food never feels repetitive, even across multiple trips.
Meals here aren’t just about eating. They’re about sitting together, laughing, and replaying the day.
Walking the Boardwalk and Exploring Tide Pools

The Myrtle Beach boardwalk is one of those places that works at any pace. Some days we stroll slowly, stopping to look around and soak it in. Other days we’re moving with purpose, exploring and pointing things out as we go.
One of our favorite parts is taking time to explore tide pools and shoreline wildlife. Watching kids notice small creatures, shells, and changes in the water is a reminder of how naturally curious they are. These moments don’t need tickets or schedules. They just need attention.
Walking the boardwalk always feels like a shared experience rather than an activity you rush through.
Trying Different Oceanfront Family Resorts

Another thing we love about Myrtle Beach is the variety of family-friendly resorts, especially oceanfront ones. We always choose oceanfront because waking up to the water just hits differently.
Each resort we’ve stayed at has offered something unique. Some have better pools. Some have better views. Some feel quieter, while others feel more lively. That variety keeps each trip feeling fresh, even when the destination stays the same.
Trying different resorts has become part of the adventure. It lets us see Myrtle Beach from slightly different perspectives every time.
Why Myrtle Beach Keeps Calling Us Back
When I look at these moments together, what stands out is how flexible and forgiving Myrtle Beach is for families. It meets you where you are. New parents. Budget-conscious travelers. Families with growing kids. It all works.
Myrtle Beach gave us our first family beach memory, and it continues to give us new ones. And that’s why it will always hold a special place in our family story.
