Prepare The Fruit
- Wash all fruit thoroughly.
- Hull and slice the strawberries, cut watermelon and pineapple into bite sized cubes, and slice the banana into thick rounds. Grapes can remain whole unless you are preparing these for younger toddlers, in which case slicing them lengthwise may be safer.
- Place the prepared fruit in a bowl so it is easy to assemble the kabobs.
Assemble The Kabobs
- Take a wooden skewer and begin threading pieces of fruit onto the stick.
- Alternate colors and types of fruit to create bright and fun combinations. For example, you might add strawberry, grape, pineapple, banana, and watermelon.
- Repeat until the skewer is filled, leaving a little space at the bottom for easy holding.
- Continue assembling until all fruit is used.
Optional Flavor Toppings
- If desired, mix honey and lime juice together in a small bowl.
- Lightly drizzle the mixture over the fruit kabobs for a fresh citrus flavor. This step is optional but adds a nice touch.
Chill Before Packing
- Place the assembled fruit kabobs in an airtight container.
- Refrigerate them for at least 30 minutes before packing them for your beach trip. Chilling helps the fruit stay crisp and refreshing.
Notes
Choose fruits that hold their shape well when cut. Firmer fruits like pineapple, melon, and grapes tend to work best.
If you are making these for toddlers, consider using shorter skewers or reusable toddler friendly fruit picks instead of long wooden sticks.
Fruit kabobs are best enjoyed the same day they are prepared, but they can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before serving.
Because the fruit is already cut and assembled, these kabobs make snack time at the beach quick and easy for both parents and kids.
