Fun Shores Ahead helps families discover beach destinations, activities, snack ideas, and travel tips that make trips with kids easier to plan and more enjoyable once you arrive.

When Planning a Family Beach Trip Feels Harder Than It Should

If you’ve ever tried planning a beach vacation with kids, you already know it can feel like more work than a vacation.

You want that perfect picture in your mind. Kids running through the sand. Waves rolling in. Maybe a quiet moment watching the sunset together as a family.

But getting there can feel overwhelming.

Between packing snacks, finding kid friendly beaches, keeping toddlers entertained, and making sure the trip does not cost a small fortune, it sometimes feels easier to stay home.

Most parents are not looking for complicated travel plans. They just want a beach trip that actually works for their family.

A trip where the kids are happy, the parents can relax, and everyone comes home with good memories instead of exhaustion.

If that sounds familiar, you are exactly who this site is for.

How I Learned To Make Family Beach Travel Work

Marlinda_Davis_Founder_Of_Fun_Shores_Ahead

Hi, I’m Marlinda.

I’m a mom of two girls and someone who has always loved the beach. But traveling as a family did not always feel easy for me.

Like many parents, I spent time watching other families travel and wondering how they made it happen without overspending or feeling completely overwhelmed.

Traveling with kids adds layers most people never talk about. Snacks that keep toddlers happy. Activities that actually hold their attention. Beaches that are safe and family friendly. And figuring out how to do all of that without stretching your budget too far.

Over time I started figuring it out.

I learned how to plan beach trips that fit our family, how to keep kids entertained without packing half the house, and how to choose destinations that make family travel feel fun instead of stressful.

Now our family spends more time traveling, exploring beaches, and making memories together instead of sitting on the sidelines watching everyone else live their lives.

Fun Shores Ahead exists because I want other families to experience that too.

Meet Our Family

Fun Shores Ahead is inspired by my own family and our love for spending time together at the beach.

I’m Marlinda, a mom of two girls who believes some of the best family memories happen with sand between your toes and salty air in the breeze.

Our family of four loves traveling, exploring new places, and finding simple ways to enjoy time together. Whether we are visiting beaches in North Carolina, exploring beautiful shores in Bermuda where I’m originally from, or planning our next beach adventure, we are always looking for experiences that bring our family closer together.

Traveling with kids is not always perfect, and that is exactly why I share what actually works for us.

From snacks that keep kids happy during long beach days to activities that keep little explorers entertained, everything I share here is inspired by real experiences with my own family.

Because family trips are not about perfection.

They are about laughter, discovery, and creating memories that your kids will remember long after the trip is over.

Why I Created Fun Shores Ahead

Fun Shores Ahead grew out of my own love for the beach and my experience planning trips for my family.

I’m a mom of two girls who believes family travel should feel exciting and achievable, even when you’re balancing kids, budgets, and everyday life.

Our family regularly explores beaches together, from the beautiful shores of Bermuda where I’m originally from to family friendly beaches along the East Coast of the United States. Through these trips, I’ve learned how to plan beach vacations that work for real families.

That means choosing destinations that are safe and enjoyable for kids, finding activities that keep children engaged, and preparing simple things like snacks, packing strategies, and travel tips that make the whole experience smoother.

Everything shared on Fun Shores Ahead is inspired by real family experiences and practical planning methods that help make beach travel easier.

My goal is simple.

To help other parents plan beach trips where the focus is less on stress and more on time well spent together.

    • Hi Angela,

Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to read my About Me page. It means a lot to know that my love for coastal life resonated with you. You are absolutely right that the ocean has a magical way of bringing us joy and connecting us with nature.

When it comes to my favorite coastal spots, Bermuda is at the top of my list. The south shore beaches are stunning and exactly what you see in postcards or media. However, the waters there can be a little rough, which makes them more popular with tourists than families. Now that I have a family, I prefer the north shore beaches because the water is much calmer and the shallow inlets are perfect for kids.

My favorite north shore beach is Shelly Bay Beach. It is peaceful, family-friendly, and great for making lasting memories. Spanish Point is another spot I enjoy. It is not as well known but offers a quieter, more relaxing experience.

On the south shore, I love Horse Shoe Bay. It has a unique horseshoe shape and even includes a small, calm inlet that is safe for children to play in.

I hope these recommendations inspire your next coastal adventure. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like more tips. I am so glad to have you exploring the site and diving into all the wonderful possibilities of beach life.

      Warmly,

      Marlinda
